Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the BJP’s ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ poll campaign on 16th March 2019 at exactly 9 am. Beginning the campaign, Prime Minister Modi tweeted “Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar,” along with a video highlighting a group of the common public from across the country, signing with full passion the words ‘Haan, main bhi chowkidar hoon’. The lyrics and pictures of the video showcase the various schemes launched by Modi and his government.
Modi Ji has independently shaped a social movement which is not about politics and rather aims a positive call to action for people to take responsibility for the nation’s development. A large number of people supported him and said: “Main Bhi Chowkidar” along with Modi. The tweet, in no time, gained more than 25,000 retweets and 75,000 likes with active participation from the general public, political leaders and various dignitaries. Modi Ji instantly connected with the public and inspired them to come & work together for a higher determination.
With this campaign, Modi Ji has united every India regardless of caste, creed or gender and has inspired them to come forward and take equal responsibilities with regards to nation’s development. Each Indian who individually had faith in India’s development mission, and each Indian who battled against social rot, was being renowned by none other than the Modi Ji.
The positive impact of this campaign was such that every citizen took the ownership of this mission, and updated their names on social media with a prefix “Chowkidar”. The campaign evoked a sense of responsibility in every Indian that the development of our nation is their sole responsibility, and the society is playing the role of chowkidars of nation’s development with pride. With the enormous response this movement has witnessed, it is clear that the people are resolute to removing hurdles that standpoint in the way of creating India a strong, prosperous and a proud nation.
Why was their an urgent need for a campaign like this?
“Main Bhi Chowkidar” is a campaign driven by responsible Indians who are also expanding up as the helpers for a better India.
Numerous policies of the Modi government have worked in controlling corruption that was unchanged. However at this point, with each Indian denying corruption at each level, India’s growth as an economic superpower is unavoidable. And this is due to powerful campaign like “Main bhi Chowkidar” that unites everyone and ignites patriotism among common people. In this campaign ever Indian is working as a chowkidar and are ready to take responsibility for bringing the best in their particular profession. This will all together result in a better and a prosperous tomorrow.
Conclusion
In my opinion, neither is “Main Bhi Chowkidar” a political move nor is it a comeback to the Congress’s deleterious campaign of “Chowkidar Chor Hai”. In reality, it is a measure to make stronger social awareness. This, too, is a movement that is inspiring people and rallying them for a greater purpose. Also on responding to PM Narendra Modi’s call, the people gave thumbs up to the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ movement by their active and massive participation.
