Being one of the largest producers of apples the state has great growth potential, and with support of government scheme it will keep rising. 

Initiatives by the government

Union Minister K.J. Alphons also believes that the state of Himachal Pradesh has tremendous potential in becoming world’s top tourist destination, and motivates entrepreneurs to involve themselves in developing the potential of tourism in Himachal Pradesh. Modi government has taken a lot of initiatives to expand tourism in India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Centre is providing funds to Himachal Pradesh to develop infra in the state. He said that the government’s focus is developing well infra with an aim to boost the tourism.

The state government together with the central government is also planning to make some efforts in developing the unexplored destinations to improve the sanitation, the accommodation, the parking, the roads, toilets, beautification and landscaping of areas that are of interest to the tourists. Following are few steps that the government took to boost Tourism in Himachal Pradesh:

  1. Swadesh Darshan Scheme which was launched by the Ministry of Tourism for the progress of subject based tourist tracks to cater to both bulk and niche tourism. Underneath this scheme that intentions to advance superlative infrastructure to promote traditional and heritage value of the country and boost the tourist attractiveness, 27 projects for Rs. 2261.50 crore have been certified for 21 States and Union Territories since its introduction in January 2015.
  2. The National Mission for Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) plot, was additionally propelled by the Ministry for the improvement and beautification of journey destinations to tap the development of domestic sightseers driven by spiritual/religious estimations. The plan tries to enhance the tourism for the tourists by providing them facilities & enhance their experience.
  3. Swachh Paryatan, a mobile application was launched on February 22,2016 by the Ministry of Tourism, which will allow tourists to report any hygiene issues that they face at various tourist destinations across the country.
  4. Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), a scheme from Jubbarhatti, an airport on the outskirts of Shimla. ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’ means ‘the common man flies’ which will further impetus to both domestic and inbound tourism.
  5. ASI has identified 100 monuments to be advanced as Model Monuments. These monuments would be delivered essential tourist amenities including Wi-Fi, security, signage, violation free area, interpretation centers screening short films about the significance of monuments and signboards of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
