The truth behind Shaheen Bagh protests

Many of you are aware of the ongoing protests at Shaheen Bagh. The protest started after the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed in both houses of Parliament. The protestors have blocked a main highway which has affected the traffic very badly. Almost 100,000 vehicles are facing the wrath of the protest and a journey that would ordinarily take a few minutes is taking over half an hour. The protestors are claiming that they are demonstrating peacefully and registering their protest against CAA. However, I fail to understand how this is helping anyone. In fact, even children have been dragged into the protest which has forced the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to send counsellors at Shaheen Bagh. Children have been given wrong information about CAA. Like many other citizens, they are being misled about the intent of CAA. Furthermore, residents of Sarita Vihar and other nearby colonies are also facing a lot of hardship as the Kalindi Link road is closed and access to Noida and greater Noida is now blocked.

Contrary to reports that are being publicized in news media, the protests at Shaheen Bagh are not entirely peaceful. There are incendiary speeches that are being delivered and the situation is being polarized by these protestors. Let us also not forget that the protestors at Shaheen Bagh are raising slogans against the Prime Minister and Home Minister. I whole heartedly agree Ravi Shankar Prasad ji who said the demonstrations are a cover for those who want to divide India into pieces. The protestors are using CAA as an excuse to simply attack Modi ji. In the course of that, they are causing a huge inconvenience to the general public.  Shops are forced to be shut which is affecting the earnings of so many people, office goers and school children are unable to reach their destination on account of the road blocks. I really want to ask the protestors at Shaheen Bagh if they are happy with the outcome of the protests.

News channels who are driven by an anti-Modi agenda are not highlighting the real issues resulting from the Shaheen Bagh protests. Several commuters have complained that they do not find the protests relevant as it is creating a wrong impression about the law. I would once again like to reiterate that the government has on numerous occasions explained the true intent behind CAA. These protestors are creating unnecessary chaos, confusion and trouble by sitting on the road.

Who fired the bullets at Shaheen Bagh?

Now let’s look at the incident of shooting at Shaheen Bagh which took place a few days ago. It appears that the shooter is affiliated to the Aam Aadmi Party. Delhi Police has recovered deleted photos from the accused’s phone which includes a photo of AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh putting the AAP cap on the accused. There are also other photos of the accused meeting other leaders from AAP and posing with guns.

As Manoj Tiwari ji noted, the motive of AAP was not to get the shooter to fire at the protestors who are sitting at Shaheen Bagh. The objective was to fire in the air with the clear motive to defame Hindu organizations.  AAP is now maligning BJP and Hindu organizations by trying to send across the message that these organizations want to shoot the protestors. However, this is far from the truth. I also agree with the observations that have been made by Modi ji in this regard. Modi ji said that the protests at Shaheen Bahgh is a conspiracy to destroy the nation’s harmony because the protests are not a samyog (coincidence) but prayog (experiment). Both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are experts in vote bank politics and the entire episode at Shaheen Bagh is simply an illustration of the same.

Conclusion

Both media and other political parties are shamelessly taking advantage of the protests to drive their own agenda. No one is allowing the true facts to come to light. If the protestors were really concerned about the citizens, they would have thought twice before blocking arterial roads in the heart of the city which has affected the life and livelihood of so many people. This itself shows that the protestors just want to polarize the communities and create confusion. I am hoping that normalcy is restored at the earliest. As Delhi is scheduled to go for polls today, one can only hope that the voters make the right choice about their future.
