Manohar Parrikar – An epitome of perfection

The Chief Minister of Goa and former Defence Minister of India, Manohar Parrikar breathed his last on March 17.  He was a real gem for the nation; with his death the nation has lost a great leader and a visionary. The offerings made by Mr. Parrikar in terms of building a strong Defence Industry in the country will always be recalled. All notable alterations in the Defence Industry sector happened in the course of Mr. Parrikar’s tenure after a long gap since Mr. George Fernandes originated the developments in the late ’90s.

Mr. Parrikar soon after taking office as the Defence Minister accurately become skilled at the workings of the defence procurement system and had taken quite a lot of pro-industry initiatives to support the Indian Industry. From working as an RSS karsevak in Ayodhya in the course of the destruction of the Babri Masjid in December ‘92 to founding his party’s summon in Goa with the support of local Catholics, Manohar Parrikar could confidently balance his beliefs with responsibilities like no one else. The nation was honored and privileged to have Mr. Parrikar and for all the actions that he took for the development of the nation. Below I have listed a brief about his life & achievements:

He was the first IITian to become a chief minister of an Indian state

From Loyola High School, Margao, he finished his education and completed his secondary education in Marathi. After graduating in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay), Parrikar became the first IIT graduate to serve as MLA of an Indian state. In 2001, he was bestowed the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the IIT Bombay.

Administrative career as RSS pracharak

After graduating from IIT-Bombay, Parrikar commenced his political career as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak and sustained working for the Sangh. He certainly not feared from displaying his attachment to the Sangh and had participated in the annual ‘Sanchalan’ organized by the RSS. He even accredited the surgical strikes conducted by Indian Army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the course of his tenure as Defence Minister to the experiences of the RSS.

He was a leader with great vision

Manohar Parrikar has been a critical figure in Goa for the BJP and RSS for almost 25 years, and has satisfied his authoritative obligations surprisingly. He is a known as a stringent leader in his home state and used to watch out for issues concerning the ‘aam aadmi’.He has conveyed his simple picture to the Ministry Of Defense which is the reason the productivity of the entire division has gone up fundamentally.

The speed at which the changes were occurring in the defence part under Mr. Parrikar was phenomenal. He was loved by all – industry and military. His insight about the issues dealt with by him was irrefutable. The Indian business empowered by him will rise as solid barrier innovation organizations, serving our Armed Forces and the country.

Even after suffering from pancreatic cancer, he continued buckling down with foodpipe through his nose and exhibited the state Budget on 30th January 2019 strongly and acted as a true fighter. Foodpipe and other conditions made no difference to him as he was a hard worker. Indeed, even in his last minutes he served Goa and India and will be recognized as an influential individual for all the ages of Goan. The loss to the nation is too enormous to be filled by someone else. We lost a relative, the great Manohar Parrikar.
